Alfalfa, (Medicago sativa), also called Lucerne, belongs to the plant family Leguminosae. It is a legume, and like all legumes, the Alfalfa plant has the unique ability to fix nitrogen from the air. As a result, alfalfa is incredibly high in protein.
Alfalfa is grown in many countries around the world, however, most of it originates in North America, followed by Europe, South America and Asia. The plant stems can grow up 60 cm tall and have many branches, with attractive flowers that are violet to pale lavender. Known as the “father of all foods,” Alfalfa is high in protein, as well as a source of important vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin A and calcium. It’s harvested mainly as hay, but the seeds of alfalf’a can be sprouted and prepared in salads or sandwiches. In parts of Russia and China tender alfalfa leaves serve as a vegetable. Many believe that alfalfa offers protection. The ashes of burnt alfalfa are scattered around a property to guard against negative influences. In pagan rituals, alfalfa is used to protect the home from poverty and hunger. Alfalf’a also has a long history in Indian Ayurvedic practices. Today, Nature’s Answer brings you this nutritious supplement in our highly concentrated Alfalfa Leaf Extract. Each 2 ml serving gives you a potent 2,000 mg of Alfalfa Leaf Extract and all its natural benefits. |
