What is Feverfew?
Feverfew (Tanacetum parthenium) is also known as bachelor’s button, brides button, altamisa, featherfew, featherfoil, febrifuge plant, flirtwort, pyrethrum and wild chamomile. This plant is a member of the daisy family. Feverfew can grow up to two feet high, and grows naturally throughout Europe and North and South America. Its attractive white and yellow flowers and dark green foliage have made it a favorite of many gardeners. The ancient Greeks called feverfew, “Parthenium”, thus the species name parthenium. The dried leaves of the feverfew plant are utilized in capsules, liquid herbal extracts, and herb teas.
