Definition:These usually refer to shitake and reishi varieties, which are Japanese mushrooms with impressive therapeutic properties. They contain specific polysaccharides which boost T-cell activity in the immune system. Recently, they have been used as a viable cancer and AIDS treatment and may prove to be invaluable for immune deficiency disorders.
Applications:Hypertension, immune dysfunction, infections, chronic fatigue, autoimmune disease, cancer, heart disease, high cholesterol.
Recommendations:Both mushroom types are available in fresh or dried form and can be soaked for twenty minutes before use. They can also be purchased in capsule or extract form.
